It happened again tonight,
Rolled around --can't get to sleep. Nothing seems to work, to get my rest, Not stretching or yawning or counting sheep. Yesterday was pretty full, some work and play, I've got to sleep--tomorrow's another day. My nose is stuffed up but not sore, The neighbors make a lot of noise, walking the floor. Maybe I ate too much and my leg does hurt, Maybe I should put on a long sleeve undershirt. But I'm not too hot and the covers keep away any cold. Maybe this happens more when a person gets old. Should I eat something? I have a little indigestion, Of course, coffee or some of those pills--out of the question! Maybe it's futile, all this insomnia and pillow fighting, Maybe I'm supposed to be up to finish this poem's writing. Lindberg couldn't sleep ere his plane over the Atlantic he did send, Those arguments and conflicts, the relationships we need to mend. Now I'm fully awake, alert as a hawk, But I'm smart enough not to wake Nori for a talk. Sleeping Beauty is peaceful, at least she's getting her rest, To bed again I go, want to give tomorrow (today) my best. Dave "Serta" Hale Ottawa, Ks 2/29/12 hale-agency.com

AuthorDave likes to put together words to make poems. Sometimes the rhythms are great and sometimes they are a stretch. Either way they will make you think, make you laugh, make you wonder what's going on with Dave. :) Archives
