Thoughts on Labor

There are so many inconsistencies in life, you know,
Why are some barges pushed, others need a tow?
The worker plods on, a paycheck will end his week,
Perhaps after many years his earning power will peak.

But alas, technology may eliminate and strength may ebb,
A worker's abilities and need may diminish, whether Yankee or reb.
Then what?  Is he cast aside and mumbles about self-worth?
This is not only an American problem, it also occur in Perth.

Find a need and fill it--what are you known for?
What is rich in purpose for you?  What is your basis, your floor?
Even if you know what to do, you still have to do it,
What is it you need to do or your family will throw a fit?

Calmly,     resolutely,     sit down and draw up a list,
Mr. Rogers had a routine, others would have noticed if he missed.
Do you show up on time and do what you say?
If you consistently work hard, no one minds if you play.

Keep your goals reachable, but allow yourself to be stretched,
Other processes might prove useful--ever see the benefits of acid-etch?
Our 5 kids have each found their path..out the door they proceed,
They are feeding themselves and family..God knows what they need.
