​A FEW DAYS AGO...

There is no good reason today to go outside,
Except to collect reasons why to stay inside.
Not only is it cold--the wind, Mariah, is blowing,
A good day to clean your closet for better clothing stowing.

When the speed with which you cool off exceeds the speed of driving,
It reminds one to review exactly why one is striving.
For Heaven's sake, stay inside where it's warm,
Stay inside your house, apartment or dorm.

Just exactly why God made winter I know not,
When it is this cold, do not leave your warm spot.
Shopping, movies, eating out--it can all wait,
Cold weather makes one prioritize what is on one's plate.

Benefits of the cold?--there can't be many,
If I wasn't married, there might not be any.
The coldest I've ever been is Chicago in '82--26 below,
Forget about fluidity--everything moves super slow.

Got cabin fever there one year also..wanted out,
Even young people need a constitution stout.
Spring will be here in a month or two,
Baseball and gardening welcomed by more than a few.
