The "thumb" of Wisconsin is a county named Door,
The people, like the lakefront views, are not poor. This 50 mile peninsula of pleasure craft and waterfront homes, Boasts quietness and serenity like roosters and their combs. Wisconsinites are hard working Germans, making boilers and such, There are Packers and millers and farmers, together a nice touch. A pleasant day was spent in driving the thumb, Egg Harbor and Sister Bay leave you inspired, certainly not numb. It seems to me lots of folks work awfully hard to get away, Much effort and time is spent in order to play. Hard work for Wisconsinites is certainly not new, Get some ice cream, enjoy the breeze, breathe deep--Whew!! It's wise to get away, see new things, escape the grind, Meet new people, hear their stories, refresh your mind. What will you do when you finally get home? After you've finished all the miles you've chosen to roam. Milwaukee and Sheboygan are where Wisconsinites get things done, Door County is the entrance to where they have fun. Make the decision now to go to Door, the scenery is nifty, Do it real soon, certainly before you turn fifty! Dave Hale Milwaukee 9/30/11, 2 days after driving the thumb

AuthorDave likes to put together words to make poems. Sometimes the rhythms are great and sometimes they are a stretch. Either way they will make you think, make you laugh, make you wonder what's going on with Dave. :) Archives
