Been to some recent HSGP (High School Graduation Parties),
Some cookies, pop, pictures, the air full of future hearties. The optimism of youth and getting away from Mom and Dad, As they will soon find, life at home isn't so bad. Having someone in your corner is better than a college roommate, Many college students rate their roomie less than great. Yet, freedom to do your own thing has been anticipated for awhile, So leaving high school produces for most students a smile. Leaving home where some things seemingly rotate around you, At college, competition makes things about you few. Everyone seems to have an agenda, some loftier than yours, Those without plans are considered by some as boors. Not everyone blooms in high school--college can miss too, Seems like those on a steady, on course path, just a few. Some, including athletes, are so skillful their path forward clear, Others may wait years before understanding their calling dear. But melancholy aside, May and June beckon for growth and promotion. Some respond with clear eyed intellectualism, others much emotion. May you be jubilant as you celebrate what has come your way, Blow up balloons, and with old pictures, have a "This is My Day". AuthorDave likes to put together words to make poems. Sometimes the rhythms are great and sometimes they are a stretch. Either way they will make you think, make you laugh, make you wonder what's going on with Dave. :) Archives
