Our older son, Aaron was born on my Dad's birthday,
On 3/4/70, early in the AM, my day brightened, so to say. My folks had company the night before, our number was six, We laughed ourselves silly, telling stories and doing car tricks. I was full and exhausted--the evening way past its prime, When Nori got out of bed and announced, "It's time!" I don't know much Greek, but "kronos" means the time on your timepiece, The other Greek time word means "it's time"--no need for a fleece. A woman in labor is a sight to behold, What should a man do? She will tell you with words bold. She writhed and moaned most of the night, Then, about 3AM, she pushed with all her might. At sunrise, I told my father a grandson had been given, The smile he gave me made life worth living. In 3 more days Aaron will turn 42, He and Merci have 6 of their own, plenty to do. Dad left this earth in the spring of '84, Aaron was Dad's height when Dad entered heaven's door. The height of a man really isn't an important thing, Being the right kind of man is the golden ring. Dad now has many great-grandchildren walking this earth, Being part of a family gives life more worth. Lastly, I'll say Dad had a work ethic strong, As I written elsewhere, he usually was found singing a song. Thanks Dad, for your example--the man you were, As I've followed your example, I've been blessed, for sure. Dave Hale 3/1/12 .... a great Dad He was! Ottawa, Ks. hale-agency.com

AuthorDave likes to put together words to make poems. Sometimes the rhythms are great and sometimes they are a stretch. Either way they will make you think, make you laugh, make you wonder what's going on with Dave. :) Archives
