James Taylor, Peter Cetera and Ed Colter,
These men all sing well-- a blessing to the audio beholder. Like the theme song of a Western, echoing off the canyon wall, Much better than the shopping "music" down at the mall. His sound can be kind of "far off"--like Woody Guthrie, Ed glides through the music smoothly, never roughly. A welcome sound, like a midsummer rain or grandchildrens' voices, We need to listen to choirs and quartets and increase our choices. Oh, I'm sure Ed hits a wrong note every month or two, Maybe he wasn't watching the music or director, but his mistakes are few. But when you next watch a great quarterback who's on his game, Check the back of his jersey, see if Colter is his name. When's the last time you thanked God for your ears? More specifically, to hear great sounds that force you to tears? It's fairly rare that we hear something we would categorize pleasant, Yet, if you seek good sounds, they'll be found whether king or peasant. "That's music to my ears" is a refrain worth seeking, "Best news in a long time" shows the hearer's interest peaking. My wife says I too often in my poems tell people what to do, But there are sounds to pursue and others to eschew. This poem was started on Thursday night and finished Friday morning, When you're writing a poem, restaurant sounds can be "annoring". So as i leave this thought of Colter's voice, the sound is nice, Do whatever you want, I'm not giving you advice. Dave Hale Ottawa, Ks 5/4/12 hale-agency.com 620/245-5778

AuthorDave likes to put together words to make poems. Sometimes the rhythms are great and sometimes they are a stretch. Either way they will make you think, make you laugh, make you wonder what's going on with Dave. :) Archives
