Thoughts on Slavery
Pretty sure those Egyptian pyramids didn't build themselves,
Even Snow White isn't exempt--what about those seven elves?
They say slavery still exists today..it IS a big world,
Some places exist where freedom's flag remains furled.
To be held back by another is the opposite of being enabled,
Helping your children achieve is a long term, worthwhile label.
I see NO sense why some men and cultures hold back women,
Not educating or expecting good things for 50% of folks is-- stupid.
I am so proud of our two sons and the mark they are "leaving in the woods",
But our 3 daughters have ability, ambition--are making "wills out of woulds".
As a former pro athlete, I totally get the superiority of one over another,
But it is earned, a daily display of skill--either perform or find work other.
Slavery perhaps has/had some benefits for the owners: labor is free!
Yet the economic engine of the US ironically boomed after slavery did flee.
Are some folks still enjoying putting some folks down? Sadly, this is still so,
The secret and challenge is to level the playing field..so all can have cash flow.
To want to do something is more enticing than be forced to perform,
Cold hearted living is stunted and forced, so much better to be warm.
As you chart the rest of this summer, try to be edifying and uplifting,
Let's make the "Dog Days of Summer" just a saying, our actions and attitudes sifting.

Dave likes to put together words to make poems. Sometimes the rhythms are great and sometimes they are a stretch. Either way they will make you think, make you laugh, make you wonder what's going on with Dave. :)
