Heading for the outside stairs after a great lunch,
I offered Pam my steady arm, just a hunch. During our 6 person meal, she detailed some upcoming trouble, She is soon to have knee surgery, not just one, but double. I showed her my left knee scar, from 1973, A football injury--since then pretty much pain free. She is a former teacher and knows education takes awhile, Her recovery won't be a sprint, more like a mile. Ever voluntarily have surgery? Hoping for the better, A farmer's crops won't grow w/o some rainy weather. So sail on Pam, knowing your recovery a looming trial, You'll feel better by late spring, after pain for awhile. Actually it is a blessing the medical community can do this, And nurses and hospitals that provide a hug and a kiss. Improving one's lot in life is a decision not everyone can make, But this surgery is an event, a risk she is willing to take. Our lunch yesterday was after a funeral for mutual friend Marvin, An exemplary life lived by a surgeon, did his share of carvin' Marvin helped many folks cross the bridge over suffering and pain, So Pam, get it done and get back into the passing lane.
